The two quotes here are rooted together, but slightly different. One is about power and capability of having patience to listen to one another. The other (in the bubble) is about Covey’s real life observations. This is the quote that, sadly, is more relevant than ever today.
Politics, religion, race, and culture take all the headlines, but there is often something deeper within us, underneath these surface anxieties, that gets in the way of us being better listeners. I’ve consciously, deliberately, tried to do better with virtually every encounter. It takes commitment, discipline. Especially when time is limited.
